Kristen Berger committed a murder seven years ago and has been in St. Carolls, a psychiatric hospital, ever since. Doctor Bulim and his team think she has recovered sufficiently and Kristen is released on parole. She has to come for weekly consultations with Dr. Delmar and, as a form of therapy, has to move back into the room where the facts were committed seven years ago.
